Rick and Morty is an American adult animated television series created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. The show was first aired on December 2, 2013, to April 1, 2018. It can be viewed on Adult Swim, a programming block of
Cartoon Network.

The Popularity of Rick and Morty
The show follows the misadventures of alcoholic scientist Rick Sanchez. He takes his not-so-bright grandson Morty Smith through time and space to introduce him to various creatures from different planets throughout the universe while meeting all sorts of new people along the way (including some aliens).
Another dimension they travel to is Dimension C-137 which is like our own dimension but a bit more chaotic and insane. It's our dimension but with an extra layer of insanity on top of it.

Rick and Morty is an adult cartoon series that has become very popular due to its wit, humour, science fiction elements, and brilliant storyline. The story revolves around Rick Sanchez, who tries to teach his teenage grandson Morty how to be a brave man in the world without any real purpose or goal.

In season 3, episode 4, when Rick and Jerry walk out of that store with two bananas, one of the doors at the left says "Mister Meeseeks". This refers to the episode (Rick Potion #9) that features Mr. Meeseeks from another dimension, known as "Meeseeks Box".

The unaired pilot was animated in Flash on Justin Roiland's home computer and took about four months to complete. Because it was done at home and only paid for the first episode, Dan Harmon was very concerned about budgeting time and effort due to limited resources. Justin Roiland was no longer allowed to eat during breaks between animation work because he is a loud eater (and therefore too distracting).

In season 2, episode 2, Rick uses his spaceship to reshape the Earth into a regular, non-spherical shape. This is a reference to the Flat Earth Theory, which claims that the Earth is flat rather than spherical. In an episode of Family Guy (Fool Me Once) in which Peter Griffin becomes an astronaut, it's revealed that characters on South Park also believe in this theory because they watch Rick and Morty.

The season 2 episodes feature cameos from many of Dan Harmon's friends. For example, in "Total Rickall", the episode opens with a breakfast scene with Abed and Troy from Community. In that same episode, the parasites that attack Jerry Smith (one played by Danny Pudi) discuss their favourite episode of Community. Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have also made memorable cameos on this show.
