One mode that determines any type of metal while the other ignores metals you're not interested in. An 8.5" waterproof search coil allows you to search in shallow water. Additionally, there are adjustable sensitivity knobs as well as volume control to differentiate between different types of metals since the unit emits a distinctive tone for each type metal found.
